About SST

Scholastic Shooting Trust (SST) Fund is owned and controlled by the MidwayUSA Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, charitable organization established by Larry and Brenda Potterfield in 2007. The Potterfields began the Foundation as a result of their passion and interest in education for shooting, hunting, firearms safety and outdoor skills.

The SST Fund is an endowment to provide financial support for collegiate and high school shooting programs. The SST Fund, through its web site, gives alumni and other interested parties of universities, colleges and high schools the ability to financially support a school's competitive shooting program or financially assist in the start-up of a scholastic shooting program. Donations provide immediate grant potential for a school's shooting program(s) along with sustained funding from the investment earnings of the fund.

You may donate by credit card through the SST Fund´s website or by sending a check to the Foundation's office. Donations of investment securities may be arranged by contacting the Foundation through email at information@scholasticshootingtrust.org. You may suggest a school to benefit from your donation or you may donate to the SST Fund in general. All donations are unrestricted but the Board will attempt to honor a donor's suggested school.

A large portion of each donation will be reserved as principal that will be invested at the direction of the Board of Directors. The annual earnings from the invested principal will provide future funding for scholastic shooting programs. By donating to the SST Fund you will truly be providing for the future of these programs through the endowment of the donation.

All donations received by the Foundation are nonrefundable and become permanent property of the Foundation.  Shooting teams are eligible to receive an annual grant based on the earnings of their account balance and they must apply via our grant application process (as is explained under the Grants section of this website).  Activation by the respective school shooting team is required prior to any funding assistance.

The grant application form will be available under "Forms" on the SST website.

You can get started raising money for your school's program by printing the various fundraising documents available on the "Forms" link of this website. We suggest you encourage your friends, family and fellow shooters to donate. If you would like to start a competitive shooting program, visit the Forum section on this website to ask questions and share your experience.
