Olympic Shotgun Clinic for High School & College Age Shooters and their Coaches.

The Midway USA Foundation, Inc is hosting it's first annual Olympic Coached Shotgun Clinic Saturday August 14 ,2010 for junior high, high school and college age students as well as their coaches who want to be exposed to Olympic level coaching. Bret Erickson, a four time Olympian and national shotgun coach and Todd Graves a four time Olympian and bronze medalist in skeet will be the principle coaches. They will be assisted by six current US Olympic National Team members who will just be back from World Cup Championship in Munich, Germany. The Saturday clinic is full but Sunday is open to the general public to shoot trap,skeet, sporting clays or 5 stand with an Olympic athlete. Bring your shooting buddies and challenge the Olympic National Team or get one of them to shoot with you. Columbia MO FFA Shooting Team Receives $5,037 Grant - Grant Provides Opportunity for More Youths to Compete

The Columbia, MO FFA Shooting Team received a $5,037 grant from the Scholastic Shooting Trust to help fund team expenses. The grant increases the opportunities for high school youths in Columbia to compete on a shooting team. The Columbia FFA Team is composed of both Hickman High School and Rockbridge High School students and is coached by Chuck Miller, the FFA instructor for both schools. Larry Potterfield, President of MidwayUSA Foundation, said, With this grant, we look forward to more kids having the chance to compete. The team competes in FFA tournaments around the state.

Other Mid Missouri High Schools receiving grants this last year were Boonville High School, Southern Boone High School and Centralia High School, all sponsored by their local FFA Chapters.

University of Missouri Shooting Team Receives $12,670 Grant - Grant Will Allow Team to Compete At a Higher Level

The University of Missouri Shooting Team received a $12,932 grant from the Scholastic Shooting Trust to help fund team expenses. The grant will provide the opportunity for the team to practice more, compete in additional tournaments and improve competitiveness. Currently, the team has 35 members and competes at collegiate tournaments from Iowa to Wyoming. Larry Potterfield, President of MidwayUSA Foundation, said, "The grant from the Scholastic Shooting Trust will provide an opportunity for the team members to become better and for the best shooters to participate in the competitions." The University of Missouri Shooting Team is a club sport at the University of Missouri and placed second in the 2009 ACUI Clay Target National Championships.
